Fines for Failing to Comply

From the 1st of July in 2021, if a new, renewed or varied tenancy is signed for a Glenside rental property, all Healthy Homes compliance work need to be taken care of inside of 90 days.

Landlords with at least six rental properties could be penalised up to $50,000, or as high as $100,000 in the case of hearing claims.

Tenancies that were signed from 1 July 2019 and the 30th June in 2021

  • Insulation of the underfloor and ceiling is mandatory to all Glenside and New Zealand rental houses where it is reasonably practicable to install.
  • A Healthy Homes Statement of Intent to Comply as well as an Insulation Statement, and an Insurance Statement should be included with any renewal, new or altered tenancy contract.
